ServicesGutter Clearing
Ballston Spa Gutter Clearing
We clean your gutters out by hand, run water through each downspout and look over the hangers while we're on the ladder. We're on rooflines every week installing permanent lighting, so we catch the loose spike or drooping section a fast blow-out skips.

Why clean gutters matter to your home
A gutter's only task is to collect water off the roof and carry it down and away from your foundation. Once it clogs with leaves, maple seeds and shingle grit, water pours over the front lip. The fascia gets soaked, the siding gets stained, and water lands right where the basement wall meets the dirt.
We empty the troughs, clear the downspouts and leave everything draining as designed. This is also the place to start before permanent lighting goes up. The track attaches along the fascia or the gutter edge, so that edge needs to be clean, sturdy and sloped correctly first.
About permits, simply put: gutter clearing doesn't require one. If we find an issue that does, such as a damaged outdoor outlet powering your lights, we'll explain what's wrong and what the rules call for.

What's included on every visit
- 01
Hand-scooped troughs
We pull debris out by hand and bag it. We don't blow wet sludge across your roof or onto the lawn.
- 02
Downspout flush
Every downspout gets run with water from the top. If one is packed solid, we work the clog out and recheck the flow at the bottom.
- 03
Hanger and seam check
We look at hangers, spikes, end caps and corner seams. Loose ones get noted with a photo so you can see exactly what we saw.
- 04
Pitch check
Standing water after a flush means a run has lost its slope. We point out where it sits low and what it would take to fix it.
- 05
Lighting check on the same pass
If you already have permanent lighting, we confirm the track is tight and the wiring is clipped up out of the gutter water, not lying in it.
- 06
Cleanup on the ground
We pick up what falls, rinse grit off the walkway and haul the bags away.
Questions about Gutter Clearing?
Call(518) 675-8023How to tell your gutters are clogged
Rain pouring over the lip
When water runs off the front of the gutter rather than out of the downspout, there's a blockage somewhere.
Things sprouting in the gutter
Moss or little seedlings up there tell you enough debris has rotted to act like soil.
Stains on the siding or fascia
Spillover leaves dark stripes behind. Ignore it and the fascia board behind the gutter can start to go soft.
Drooping sections
Soggy debris weighs a lot. If a gutter sags between hangers, it's holding more than it was made to.
Ice along the eaves in winter
Packed gutters freeze into a solid block and feed ice dams at the roof edge. Cleaning them in fall, once the leaves are down, helps reduce that.
How the job day goes
- 1
Walk-around first
We walk the house with you or on our own, look at the roofline, count the downspouts and note any lighting already installed.
- 2
Safe ladder setup
Ladders go on level footing with standoffs so they rest on the roof, not on the gutter. That keeps us from crushing the gutter we're there to clear.
- 3
Clear and flush
We scoop each run, bag the debris and flush every downspout until water runs clear at the bottom.
- 4
Photos and a quick rundown
Before we leave, you get photos of anything worth knowing about, like a loose hanger or a leaking seam. No pressure to fix it with us.
- 5
Clean up and go
We rinse the walks, collect the bags and leave the yard the way we found it.
What sets the price
Once we've seen the house, you get a set number that holds on the day unless you ask for more. Most of it depends on how many feet of gutter you have and how tough they are to reach. The phone quote costs nothing, and we'll walk you through every piece of it.
- Number of stories
- Ranch homes go fast. Two-story colonials and steep upper runs mean more time on the ladder and more moves.
- Feet of gutter and downspout count
- Longer runs and extra downspouts take longer. Porches that wrap around and a lot of corners add to it.
- How much is in there
- After a few missed seasons, gutters can hold packed-down sludge. Clearing that is slower than scooping a light layer of dry fall leaves.
- Covers and guards
- Gutter guards usually need to be pulled off and put back. Some kinds make that easy, and some don't.
Questions about clearing gutters
How often should gutters be cleaned out around here?
For a lot of houses, a single trip each year is enough, timed for when the trees are finally bare. Big maples or pines hanging near the roof change that, since seeds and needles come down in spring too, so those houses usually need a second trip. We can look at what's growing around your place and tell you which one fits.
Do I need a permit to have my gutters cleared?
No. Clearing gutters is maintenance, and no permit or inspection is needed. If we find something tied to electrical work, like a worn outdoor outlet powering your lights, we'll explain what code requires to fix it properly.
Should I get my gutters cleared before getting permanent lighting?
Yes, and we'll usually do it as part of the prep. The track mounts along the roofline, so we want the gutter edge clean and firmly attached first. It saves taking things apart later.
Will the work damage my permanent lighting?
It shouldn't. We know where the track and wiring run and we work around them. We also check that wires are clipped up and out of standing water while we're there.
Do you fix gutters too?
We'll tighten a loose spike or hanger we come across while we're up there. For a bigger repair, we'll show you photos and tell you plainly what it needs.
