Why Neighbors Hire Us for Their Lighting

Most of a lighting job is out of sight: the outlet, the wire run, the mounting. That is the part we take the most care with.

  1. 01

Paperwork handled when it is needed

Plugging a system into an existing outdoor outlet usually needs no permit. A new outdoor outlet or circuit is electrical work, and many towns want it inspected. We tell you which one applies to your house and file what is required.

  2. 02

    Covered on the job

We are licensed and insured. You are not taking on the risk of an uncovered crew working along your roof edge.

  3. 03

    Authorized Gemstone Lights installer

We install Gemstone systems the way the maker lays them out, from track spacing to controller setup. You get the product as it was designed to work.

  4. 04

    Power done safely

Outdoor lighting should run off a GFCI-protected, weather-rated outlet. If yours is missing, worn out or on an overloaded circuit, we say so before install day, not after.

  5. 05

    Clean mounting, no guesswork

We fasten track to fascia and trim, not through your shingles. Wire runs are tucked and clipped so you are not looking at loose cords from the driveway.

Permanent Exterior Lighting, Done Once

Permanent lighting for the home exterior is the core of what we do. A slim track goes under the roofline or along the gutters, LED lights sit inside it, and a small controller ties the whole run to an app on your phone. As an authorized Gemstone Lights installer, we put up a proven system the way it was built to go up. We also handle the exterior cleaning that keeps your roofline and house ready for it: soft washing, roof treatments, gutters, windows and lighting care. The crew doing the work is licensed and insured, and the lights stay up year-round and fade into the trim by day.

    Permanent Lighting

Low-profile LED track along your roofline, controlled from your phone, with the power and outlet work checked against code before we mount a single light.

  • Technician spraying cleaning solution on algae-streaked white vinyl siding, with a chemical tank and pump on a pickup tailgate and a ladder against the eave

    Exterior Soft Wash

Low-pressure cleaning that kills algae and mildew on siding, trim and soffits, with outlets, fixtures and plants protected while we work.

  • Worker in cap and blue gloves sprays treatment on dark-stained asphalt shingles from below the eave, with a ladder against the gutter and the treated section cleaner

    Roof Treatments

A low-pressure treatment that kills moss, algae and lichen on your shingles, then lets the weather carry the dead growth off over the following weeks.

  • Worker on an aluminum extension ladder scooping debris from a gutter on a white two-story house, garden hose in hand, water flowing from the downspout

    Gutter Clearing

We clear gutters and flush downspouts by hand, check the hangers and pitch, and keep the roofline in shape for permanent lighting.

  • Technician's hands scrubbing a soapy double-hung window with a strip washer and squeegee beside beige vinyl siding and an aluminum ladder

    Window Washing

Outside glass, screens, frames and sills washed by hand, with careful ladder work around your roofline and any lighting.

  • Technician in a dark hoodie and cap on an aluminum ladder wiping a slim light track under a white soffit and gutter beside beige vinyl siding and a window

    Lighting Care

We clean the lenses, track and mounting strip of your permanent lighting and check the power side so the whole system shines like the day it went up.

What Changes the Price of Your Lights

No two houses share the same eaves, peaks and corners, so we come out and measure before we write a number down. These are the things that move it most.

Measuring your house and going through a written quote, item by item, costs you nothing. If something shifts after work begins, we check with you first.

Length of the roofline
The linear feet of track and lights your home needs matter most. A plain ranch and a two-story colonial with runs over the garage end up far apart.
How high and how easy to reach
Eaves on the second or third floor, steep slopes and stretches above decks or plantings mean more setup and more hours on the ladder or lift.
Gables, corners and gaps
Every peak, inside corner and break along the roof calls for more cuts and connections. A more detailed house takes more labor.
Power and outlet work
A sound outdoor outlet close to where the controller goes keeps things simple. Adding an outlet or a dedicated circuit means electrical work, and your town may charge a permit and inspection fee.
Zones and controller setup
A single run is the easiest setup. Breaking the house into zones, such as the front and the garage on their own schedules, takes more hardware and wire.

How a Lighting Job Runs

Here is what happens from the first phone call to the night you turn the lights on.

  1. 1

    Phone call

You call, tell us about your house and what you want lit. We set a time to come look.

  2. 2

    Measure and check power

We measure the roofline, look at trim color and check your outdoor outlets. Then you get a written quote with any electrical work spelled out.

  3. 3

    Paperwork, if needed

If the job calls for new electrical work, we file with your town and line up the inspection. You do not have to call the building department yourself.

  4. 4

    Install day

We mount the track, seat the lights and route the wire. Ladders are set with care around beds and shrubs, and we sweep the yard for clips and offcuts when we finish.

  5. 5

    App setup and walkthrough

Before we go, the controller gets linked to your Wi-Fi and the app goes on your phone. We walk you through colors, timers and holiday patterns until you are comfortable running it.

Common Questions From Homeowners

Will my lighting need a permit?

That comes down to the power. Plugging into a GFCI outdoor outlet you already have usually means no permit. Adding an outlet or a new circuit often needs an electrical permit and inspection in many towns. We let you know at the start and handle it.

Does the track harm my roof or gutters?

No. The track attaches to the fascia, soffit or gutter edge, never through the shingles. The holes are small and we seal them. If any trim is soft or rotted, we show you before mounting there.

What happens to the lights in winter?

They are built to live outdoors all year. Tucked inside the track, they handle snow, ice and long cold spells in normal use. We also lay out runs so snow sliding off the roof won't snag them.

Do the lights come with a warranty?

Yes. A 10-year product warranty comes with the system. If something fails, give us a call and we'll go through it with you.

Does someone have to be home for the install?

Mostly no, since the work happens outside at the roofline and the outlet. We'd like someone there at the end to connect the controller to your Wi-Fi and see the app. If there's an inspection, we tell you in advance whether the inspector needs to get in.

Can I pick colors and set timers?

Yes. The whole system runs from an app on your phone. Choose colors, have it come on at dusk, save holiday patterns and shut everything off with a single tap.

Will the lights show in daylight?

Very little. The track is matched to your trim color, so from the road it blends into the house. After dark you see the light, not the hardware.

What's the first step to a quote?

Give us a call and we'll pick a time to measure. The quote is free and itemized line by line, with any outlet or electrical work included. You don't have to decide on the spot.

Crew cleaning a white two-story home: one runs a surface cleaner on the wet driveway, one steadies a ladder, another washes an upstairs window with a pole

A Local Crew Built Around Your Roofline

We are a small Ballston Spa company, and permanent lighting is the heart of our business. We also take care of the exterior cleaning that keeps the roofline and the rest of the house in shape for it. We install the lights, we stand behind how they were put up, and we answer the phone when you have a question about the app six months later.

We think the power side matters as much as the lights. Cords run to whatever outlet is closest, on a circuit nobody checked, is not how we work. We do the electrical part the right way, find out what your town requires, explain it plainly, and leave the yard cleaner than when we pulled in.
